What is picture quality different between Nikon 18~200mm VR and 12~24mm F4 if both set @ 18mm F4 to take the same picture with the same camera?

Havnt tried, but my money is on the 12-24 having better distortion control, colours and overall sharpness.

Anymore comments from the fellow Nikonians.
It seems like all the Nikonians are very busy, hardly see posts in this sub-forum. |

At 18mm f/4 the 18-200mm is a little soft at the edges and as wildstalion says, there is loads of distortion. The Nikon 12-24 is much better in both respects.

He didn't ask you to buy. Please read carefully. He asked you to try both lenses for yourself.

1. go to the shop 2. bring your CF/SD card along 3. try both lenses 4. check results from your CF/SD card

Anyway, guys thanks for highlighting the misinterpretation. By the way, which nice shop allows one to try but don't buy the expensive lenses. Sorry once again, Jnet6 |
