Default sb 600 recycle rate

is there any way to increase the recycle rate of the flash? i've seen a photographer with this thing attached to his flash unit, asked him what it was for and he told me it helps to increase his flash's recycle rate, so he doesn't have to wait so long for it to charge up again...i think that's pretty useful cos i've missed some shots when my flash wasn't charged up to fire off... is there something similar for the sb 600? and what is it called? thanks

its a lead acid battery modified to power your flash through that cord. there are people who DIY it, whilst there should be some commercial variant of it too.

a very cheap and effective way to charge up the flash fast is to use AA batteries with good power... just keep some in ur pocket. at least it works for me...

ah, so that's really all there is to it? battery power? what would be a good brand of rechargeable AA batteries that i could use to give me a faster recycle rate?

using AA batteries.. after shooting quite a bit, the recharge will still lag, i.e. 2-4 seconds before flash can go again.. thats why SLA is popular with many event photographers..

sorry ah, what is SLA ? i take it it's the thing event photosgraphers keep in their pocket that is wired to their flash. but what does it stand for?

I use 2500 mAH Sanyo (the new orange color ones). Quite good, unless u blast like machine gun. So far nv failed me. If u find the recharge is slow, change the batteries. Haven tried Panasonic Oxyride (the 1.7V thing) so cannot comment. But well, wat works for me may not work for u.

I think SB800 has this additional battery pack for additional power... correct me if wrong.

But u really int to carry the weight ma? this is sth u have to consider....

Can't work on a SB-600 as the SB-600 does not have a external power source terminal.

I believe the modification is to create a battery pack to imitate the 4 batteries in the compartment.

And only these 3 models of Quantum batteries can do this job for the SB-600 :

BANTAM
QB1 / 1+
QB1c

Read more here : Quantum batteries
