Default xpro shops warning

this is not anything bad,
but i jus wanna to inform brothas n sistas here so that they will not make
a wasted trip.

many of these shops who offer xpress xpro service do not do normal slide processing.
its really shocking and hard to believe.
i went all the way to sunset way for nothing.

the reason given is e-6 chemicals do not last long and in tis digital age,
not worth it. so please call b4 u make a long trip down.

xpro uses C41 and thus less risk for the shop.

hi casey,

if im not wrong e6 chemicals are more costly as well and less people shoot slides now so in a business sense it's not very feasible.
so did you xpro it in the end or went to another lab?

errr only 2 places in singapore that i know do normal slide processing...

and it is not shocking and hard to believe...
E6 contaminate easily *so need replacement always* *not that it doesnt last long*
also due to frequent replacement.. it drove the cost much higher..

Photohub do color slides processing
they charge approx 20 dollar + 4Base scanning without mounting

Colorlabs collects the color slides and send to Photohub..
and they charge approx 16.90 + 4Base scanning without mounting...

btw not all shop do xPro for color slides
cuz processing color slides with C41 do increase the chances of contaminating the negative chemicals.. and hence need more frequent replacement too...

wat i m saying is shops who xpro slides may not do normal slide processing.
please call before going down, dun waste yor time n $$$ travelling down unnecessarily.

normal slide processing uses e6 process.
xpro slide uses the normal c41 for negative film.
c41 is cheaper n last longer so they only offer xpro service.

I experience the same thing as you, couple of weeks ago.
Went to sunset way to dev + film scan, but uncle don't do normal slide dev.

In the end, went to Ruby to dev, then bring to sunset way to scan again.

I will try Triple D next, cause the uncle got dev + film scan for slides too.
The quotations I got for 120 format are:
Dev = $5
Scanning = $8

Dunno about 135 format though, call to ask.

TripleD do not do slides processing

they do xPro for slides films.. but not normal slide processing.

only 2 places in the whole singapore that actually do this
1 is Fotohub.
1 is somewhere in Kallang forgot the name

Colorlabs, Ruby and etc will collect and then send it over to Fotohub to color slides processing. *for normal color slides process*

Oh I see, so those labs sent to fotohub and the other one at kallang for normal slide dev.
Anyway, as long I just need to sent to 1 lab, and get back dev + film scan at 1 lab, I'm happy.

It's too troublesome for me to go to 1 lab for dev, then another lab for scanning.

for xPro.. i will go to tripleD for xPro + scanning

for normal slides processing..
i will send to Colourlabs at aldephi for processing and scanning
normal slides + 4Base scanning.. they charge 16.90 *approx* without mounting
and if i go str8 to Fotohub.. the same process it will be nearly 20 dollar. without mounting
i guess Colourlabs gets discount for sending in kua...

happy processing..

That's abit expensive, is that price for 120 or 135 format?
Do they do 16base scanning, I'm kinda used to 16base, since I always do 16base scanning at sunset way.
I mean for the Colourlabs at adelphi, that's a centralized area for me to go.

In the meantime, saving money for scanner too, that will solve alot of problems.

Thanks.

135 format
color slides processing IS expensive....
16Base scanning will cost over 20 dollar for the scanning alone.. cuz each frame takes approx 20 minutes to scan :O
that's the true 16Base scanning.

i believe 120 format is around the same region price too

So much!
Cause at sunset way it costs around $8+ for 16base scanning, unless theirs are not true 16base.
Anyways, what's the resolution of the 4base scanning you did at Colourlabs?
If there's around 6mp, 3k-ish X 2k-ish, its good enough.

Thanks.

16Base is 3Kish
4Base is 1.3Kish

for 4R printing and scanning from 35mm.. 4Base is enough 16Base is over the top.. u dun get the details anyway

Come on la be realistic, true 16 base scanning takes less than 10 min. The true time consuming part is the cd burning, which for labs that have a slave machine to burn, won't be that long. I'm damn sure of that as i worked part time as a print operator. and cost wise please understand that different labs charge different rates. U using photohub price here rite?

that's fast
why don't u share with us which photo lab and how much they charge for the 16Base scanning?

Its style photo studio at Pandan Valley condo. I won't recommend it for good pricing though as they are on the high side in terms of pricing, unless like me know the people there.
