Wonder how u guys feel about this?
Was using the C7070 and used to shoot/adjust colours as seen on the LCD display. And the results were generally OK. With the E-510 .... there seem to be a greenish sheen and looks dull compare to the computer output ....these days I don't adjust the pics anymore coz the outputs are so different ..... |

Yeah colors might be wildly inaccurate. Then again I rarely rely on the lcd screen for how it is gonna look color-wise.
I have BOOST option on, so its even more inaccurate but I mostly use it to frame in tight spots. I hear the E1 successor has an accurate Live view tho... Z

Anyway, if you want accuracy that's what the histograms are for! Especially with the newer cameras with histograms not only for all colours combined, but for red, green, and blue colours on their own. |

I had the E500 and now the E510...
I find the screen on the E510 to be sharper but only ever so slightly (spec wise it has a high pixel density so this is expected) But color accuracy is a real let-down. Saturation seems muted and not as punchy to images viewed off the computer. I feel this has to do with the way the software reads the image off the memory card of buffer to display it on the screen. maybe the new image processor still needs some tweaking and fine tuning... I deal with LCD Technology enough to tell you that the image drivers (software) have as big a role to play in image quality as the display device. Overall bottom line - I feel the screen on the E500 has a marginally better edge over the E510.

After the E510's LCD, the E520's LCD is indeed a giant leap forward
1. Colour is better though it still tends to "disagree" with my monitor but now it is no longer 'distressing" wondering what the final outcome will be. I no longer have to put up with wifey's comments on why the baby look so pale when she checks the LCD ...... 2. WB is easier done. 3. The LCD is definitely much more responsive, esp with review. 4. It is also more "viewable" in bright light and has a wider angle of view. So I guess there must be so truth in holidaydom's words ... Err.. actually... the E520 (2.7") uses a different LCD from the E510 (2.5").

Yupe, its a physically different LCD screen but Oly definitely did something to the software as well as evident on how it functions and the response just from just accessing the various menu items.
