Anyone with info or links to websites that confirms TC-16A works with D3 by providing psuedo AF on manual lens?
I own a TC-16A and knows the psuedo AF works with D2H and F5, but D3 is too new. If there is no available literature, can anyone know just by looking at the mount and able to tell? Reference http://www.momentcorp.com/review/nikon_tc-16a.html If can work, those AIS tele 300mm is looking very tempting. ../azul123 |

Yes, it works with D2X but not D200. So I guess it should be able to work on D3 also unless Nikon doesn't want it to work. No way to tell from the mount because whether it will work or not is purely electronic.

from what I see, it seems to be a AF module problem.

I think it is how the pins were arranged on the D2 camera bodies that made them work but not on others.

Yes, it works before and after modification on my D2H. Tested to work on the D70 after modification too!

So can I use a modded TC-16A to AF a AIS 500 f/4 P on a D1X/D1H body?

You can buy one in BS, Ebay?
With the TC-16A, the lens can only be used wide open. Of course, unless you modify it not to do so. |

So you mean after I mod the TC16A, I can only use it with the lense wide open?
Or the TC16A was originally meant to use with the lense wide open only, before modding? Sorry for the noob qn ... |

The TC-16A was meant to add AF capabilities to the MF lenses. There's a level that would push the lens to wide open when mounted (think G-lens). As the TC neither relays the aperture info to the body nor relays any of the contacts to the lens, the aperture cannot be adjusted, not on my 70-300 anyway.
Maybe you can try out on a lens that has aperture ring? Probably can compose wide open, then stop down using the aperture ring. |

Cool... boy, all these mambo jumbo about AF,MF, modding, aperture ring is really making me giddy. I'm already trying to grasp the skill of using a MF lense. Now this TC seems to be the saviour for all my miseries ... provided I can get round the mystery of using the modded TC ...

Instead of modifying the TC-16A, I wonder if the AF will work IF the following combination is used:
TC-16A Nikon MF lens Fmount to EOS adapter Canon DSLR body (e.g. 400d) I wish I had a TC-16A to try it out!!

You need the chip contacts to work so i guess your set-up won't work.
