To be honest, I find the noise control of the D200 to be pretty poor, even at ISO 400 i dare to use it in situations where the light is tricky. Dynamic range is pretty good though, no complaints, but the noise is still an issue.

It would be more convincing to hear it from actual users from this website. Thanks anyway ![]() |

But the pics are rather small to see any noise. It would be better if you have bigger samples. Thanks |

Depends... I've shot some high ISO ones... they are good only when the exposure is spot on... if under-exposed, they are pretty horrendous.

If you get it spot on its bareable, but if your under by even a fraction, its basically unusable unless you rescale the image. Honestly, wait for the D300 if you need noise control, because the D200 isnt that impressive. |

I think the dynamic range is so-so. I find the D200 clips quite easily. This finding is consistent with the D-range chart in dpreview -- quite narrow highlight range.

I normally keep it to 800, but if needed, I'd push up to 1600 for the low light shots... 800 would be quite grainy already.
Will show some examples later when I can find them. |

I'm using D80, if they share the same internal electronics, I can say that ISO400 is already disappointing in low light situation.
