hi, just wanna know the strength of both this two lens.
so far i know, the cz135mm cost around 2600 the sony135mm STF is around 2000 plus, lower then cz. a friend told me the cz135mm works about the same as the cz85mm. so, how about the sony135mm STF, this lens works better when using manuel forcusing. cause it got two set of...what you call that? i usually say leafs one set has 9 leaf for AF another got 10 leaf for manuel focus. does the 9 and 10 makes big diffrent? and how well is it's when compare to the cz? i personally still thinks cz better, but the book i read like say the sony one like very fun to play with. how all of you thinks? ![]() |

The 135 STF is a manual focus only lens. It doesn't do auto focus.
Yes there are 2 sets of aperture blades. 1 manual set for you to manually adjust the aperture from full open to close down about 1.5 stops. The other set is used for Aperture Priority exposure mode. The 135 STF is reputed to have superlative bokeh due to its unique apodization lens element. It is also very very sharp and contrasty. No flare, no distortion. Solid construction. Shooters who can manual focus accurately will love this lens. If your manual focus skill is bad, don't buy this lens. Get the AF CZ135 instead. |

well..i think both lens have their own uniqueness..while the stf can be controlled fully of its aperture and setting ...a CZ has its sharpness to credit with...

They were "created" for different purposes.

I've been eyeing the STF for so long but still cannot afford it yet.
Need to get a wide angle first then one of these. My preference lies with the STF simply for the bokeh, yet the T[4.5] is an annoyance. I'm also not very confident with my manual focusing skills. Then Sony released this CZ to give me a headache, f1.8 and auto-focus . Wonder side by side, how's the bokeh ofthis CZ compared to the STF. |

I would think CZ 135 f1.8 is better as a overall lens... but STF 135 is mainly as a specialised tool.
If you only have money for 1 lens, I think 135 f1.8 AF is better lens to buy. STF 135 is a nice lens only if you shoot a lot of portraiture. Regards, Hart |
