I noticed that when I tried to put in my battery to my camera, the red light will kept blinking non stop even when it is off mode. It will only went off after I turn on the camera and half press it. I know that it will blink again but I forgotten when as I noticed back then.
The red led is located at near to the jog dial at the back of the camera. I had no idea why it kept blinking non stop even though I formatted the card before and charged the battery. Anyone know what is going on with it? Getting worry as I dun recall I seen this situation before. I thought it might just blink a while but it's not. It went on without stopping. Hope that any kind soul is able to help me out of it. Cheers, Josh |

No idea what causes this, usually its when the buffer full or when the cam is busy writing to the card after a long burst of shots then the LED blinks continously. Maybe a trip down to Canon Service Centre to resolve the matter?

I rem that it will blink once no matter what. but this far too constant blinking.. hmm.. I realise that without doing anything, it will automatically off the blinking after 10 sec. But still, it worried me.
Best part of that, I never on the camera, put in the battery and it blink. ![]() Last edited by josho; 27th September 2007 at 10:15 AM. |

Try changing your CF card or battery. If it still blinks, try removing your card. I had once instance when my camera felt warm even when it's in off mode. When I changed to another battery, no more problems. Sometimes, it could be these third party batteries giving these random problems.
However if it still blinks intermittently when its OFF then I think you should send it down to Canon Harbourfront for checking. |

I encountered something like this. I could not eject the CF from my PC card reader properly. I just remove it. When i put the CF into the 5D, the no. of shots available is reduced ( memory seems to like used but the actual photos in the CF doesn't use so much memory). The only solution is to back the files of the CF and reformat the CF using the 5D. |

I avoid to lend the 5D as it is expensive and should anyting go wrong, i will feel bad to pursue compensation from my fren.. A better option is to rent the gear. Less hassle and dun spoilt friendship =)

Agree on renting out then borrowing... Always a fear of spoilt...or scratches.. Luckily all intact. After formatting, everything return to normal mode. *phew*

Don't tell me it's BRLOD (Blinking Red Light Of Death), Canon's answer to Nikon's BGLOD (hehe. actually BRLOD doesn't exist.)
