is nikon new models better?

i have been using both Canon and Nikon since i took up photogaphy. And during the film base days, Nikon and Canon have the largest market share in Singapore.
Nikon have good and sharp lens, but AF is damn slowly. Canon AF is fast but the picture is always slightly soft...hmm even now the Canon photo is not crisp sharp but i just loved them for sport. As for Nikon i took only landscape.
All the while Canon keep upgrading they model... EOS 1D, 1DmkII, 1DmkIIN and now 1DmkIII.... at least they keep improving and getting cheaper. As for Nikon all they said about the new model is how great they are but where is the cameras?... they are not even in the market....it took them so long to release a new model. And I waited for their full frame DSLR till my neck long long.
Canon have 1Ds, 1DsmkII, 5D and now 1DsmkIII....i felt sad for Nikon.
Canon "half-hearted" upgrade? as least we paid same or lesser price for better functions and performance.
