Replacing 40 LCD Cover in Singapore

I accidentally scratched the back LCD cover of my 40D. When I called Canon Services Centre to check if I can get a replacement part, they said they didnt sell parts, and asked me to bring the camera for them to check. They mentioned it could cost $100 to replace.
I feel this is too expensive, compared to what I read in internet, about the price in other country, like what I read http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...ssage=10852446

Does anyone of you had the experience replacing the LCD cover in Singapore ?
How was your experience ?
Is there any 3rd party vendor that sell Canon camera parts, where I can buy the LCD cover ?
Any other suggestion ?

How bad is the scratch?

If you need to get it replace, suggest that you go for the Canon repair.

After that, protect it with a LCD guard.

previously for 20D, I read that replacement for the LCD plastic screen is only $15

new model, of course the price will be high, wait for six month, I'm sure it'll drop like the 20D. How bad is your scratch? Pics?

The scratch is not that bad, I dont have a picture of it. Just dont feel good, everytime I check the LCD for picture, I will see the scratch.

Yikes, i would feel it too... Thus i always get a protector during my purchase. I got my 40D last thurs from John 3:16 and had a screen protector cut to size for me.

I think the bulk of the price comes from workmanship charges.

I was referring to the screen cover of the LCD screen (basically, that's the hard plastic surface your nose presses against), not the screen protector.

the cost of Lcd window for all DSLR shall not be more than $40.
And give Canon a call b4 u go down..... check whether they have the LCD window in stock.... $100? i guess u are wrongly quoted.
