I just discovered that there is a gap between the rear element of the lens and the corners...that are not sealed with the rear elements in the 105mm VR.
Hence, all the time I have been blowing dust away, not knowing the gap..hence there are quite a few particles of dust in the lens already.. Guys, try to use a lens pen instead...

Once in a long while, send the lens for servicing can liao. Not only to clean but to lubricate the internals.

just buy another body for this lens, so as long you don't dismount it, mean don't need to wipe, don't need to blow.

See link for pic of VR 105mm lens, about where the Nano Crystal Coat is, is right at the end of the link, so scroll down to the end and also extract from Nikon about NCC.
http://nikonimaging.com/global/produ...8_if/index.htm Nano Crystal Coat is an antireflective coating that originated in the development of NSR-series (Nikon Step and Repeat) semiconductor manufacturing devices. It virtually eliminates internal lens element reflections across a wide range of wavelengths, and is particularly effective in reducing ghost and flare peculiar to ultra-wideangle lenses. Nano Crystal Coat employs multiple layers of Nikon’s outstanding extra-low refractive index coating, which features ultra-fine crystallized particles of nano size (one nanometer equals one millionth of a mm). Nikon now proudly marks a world first by applying this coating technology to a wide range of lenses for use in consumer optical products. Last edited by rvxing; 25th September 2007 at 06:17 PM. |
