Why there is no "None of the above" option because I carry 1 x wide zoom & 1 x standard prime , how to vote? |

Well, it depends on where and my mood...
How do you ask a query and not expect people to answer out of your poll options?? |

When setting up the POLL, I'm thinking of as few option as possible in order not to be too confusing; I could have added my definitions... ![]() POLL-option definition: Tele: any focal length from 43mm FF-equivalent or longer. Wide: any focal length from 43mm FF-equivalent or shorter. |

I travel extensively and my trusty 18-200VRII is attached to my D200 98% of the time.
The other lens I tag along for low light shooting is the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. Gonna get the Sigma 10-20 soon for landscape/building. Then again, what you take along depends what you shoot |

Any lens 40mm or shorter is known as a wide lens. Any lens above 40mm to around 70mm is known as a normal lens. Any lens longer than 85mm is known as a telephoto lens. I think that if you want to put in definitions, at least put in definitions that photographers are familiar with, not your own. |

Besides, different manufacturer have slightly different way to categorize lenses!Otherwise... the definition can be found here: So by mathematics: On a 135mm film which has a format size of 24mm x 36mm: Diagonal = square-root of [(24mmx24mm)+(36mmx36mm)] = 43.27mm On a 40D, the sensor size is 22.2mm x 14.8mm Diagonal = square-root of [(22.2mmx22.2mm)+(14.8mmx14.8mm)] = 26.6mm Both the above share the same angle-of-view of 52degree, though. ![]() Last edited by LAZyNPL; 26th September 2007 at 02:38 AM. |

.....I do realize tat here in Nikon Camp; ppl tend to be more academic, or rather particular on the words/options I pick for the POLL. Over at the Canon Camp; more of an easy-going atmosphere around this topic..... ![]() |
