I recently bought the E-510. Recently, my E-510 is giving me this problem. When i'm in AP mode, the shutter takes very long to close even though it's not at a slow shutter speed. Then i switched to Auto mode and take the exact same shot, it's very fast even though the shutter speed is the same as in the Ap mode. Is it my cam. is faulty??

Just a question, Is there a wired shutter released with mirror lock up?

Mirror lockup (Anti-Shock) also works with the infrared remote. Last edited by Mikefellh; 24th September 2007 at 03:42 PM. |

No. not that anti shake mirror lockup. I read in a mag that it advice mirror lockup and then remote cable for birding.. It says that there will be no noise from the flapping mirror.

With the Olympus E-system the mirror only locks up when Anti-Shock is set to anything but OFF, for the duration that Anti-Shock is set to, and only after you've pressed the shutter release. If you're using an E-510 with Live View on, or the E-330 with Mode B on, the mirror is up and the shutter is open until you press the shutter release, then the shutter closes and the mirror drops, and then the mirror comes up again and the shutter opens again. If you are REALLY serious about birding, you may want to consider an E-1...it has one of the quietest shutters on the market (here's hoping the new Pro-E will be the same). Just to add that E-system cameras require the mirror to be down in order for the camera to set autofocus and exposure...if the mirror isn't down the camera can't do any of that. Also mentioned that some canon models disables image stablize upon mirror lock. A good way is to use self-timer + mirror lock to reduce camera contact to minimal. |
