Lightbulb Question about sync cords.

I wanted to connect my flashes together via sync cords, using D200 I have a SC-17 connected to one flash, can I use the PC sync connector on D200 to connect to another flash?

Will it fry the camera? I was reading somewhere that it might fry the camera, what is the recommended way to connect using sync cords? if I were to connect the SC-17 with a SC-18 coupled with AS-10 to the 2nd flash, the wires it will be running across and cable not long enough. So, thinking if I can have D200 in between the flashes and connect as follows:

Flash1 -> SC-17 -> D200 hot shoe -> D200 PC Sync connector -> SC-18/AS-10 -> Flash2

Using SU800 not possible as flashes have Diffuser Softbox and blocks signal. Also, because I would be kicking myself as I've sold it sometime back.

I was reading up in flash manual but did not get a clear answer from manual.

Not sure what it means really.

if your flash #2 is a sb800 or any nikon flash, should not be any problem, but do note PC sync only send signal to trigger flash, so no ttl for your flash #2

i was thinking, why not try this

d200>PC cord > SB800 > 2nd sb800 via wireless mode.

From the same port I read no issue, just concerned about what I've seen discussed in other forums that if connect hotshoe and sync port together to flashes might fry the camera.

Shooting my family portraits, wireless not preferred as pre-flashes always causes someone to blink or almost blink. Should have kept my SU800

I believe with the power in the port/pc sync it should not cause any problem but best consult with NSC.

If connect to strobe it is possible if there is discharge going back to the sync cable.

YMMV

do you use two softbox for this set up? if only one is with softbox, you can set another sb 800 to SU4 mode, which will make it a like a normal slave flash, or else, you also can use a optical slave with sync cable connect to secondary flash unit if you are using it with softbox. (place the optical slave at an area able to receive signal from the main light)

I plan to setup both with softbox, also don't have SB800, using Metz58. Although it is CLS compliant, found out that it does not have SU4.

Thanks guys, for help with my queries, I will be contacting NSC about it and find a solution somehow.
