Smile Servicing of Minolta Film Cameras

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone has had a Minolta SLR film camera serviced by the Sony Service Centre in Singapore. If so, did they do a good job? Does anyone know whether the film camera technicians that used to be with Minolta are now with Sony?

I would like to have my Dynax film camera serviced but am concerned that Sony may not have the "old" Minolta technicians with them anymore.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks very much!

Not too sure about the Minolta technicians.. you can always call up Sony to see if they service Minolta SLR film cameras?

Alternatively, you can consider contacting fatigue...I have not used his services before so i cant vouch for him personally but he seems to be quite highly recommended by fellow bro.. Here is his thread for your reference http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthrea...hlight=fatigue

Good luck~

Yes they do, just pay a service fee for it.

some of the old technicians from KM is now working for Sony DSLR dept, most likely you send it in, the old KM technicians will give you a call on the servicing price.

Thanks so much for your swift replies! Much appreciated.

Good to know that some of the KM technicians are now with Sony.

I was actually thinking of having the shutter on my Dynax film camera replaced. It hasn't given up, but I have shot many (and I mean many) rolls with it over the past few years. Do you think it should be replaced? I know it's common nowadays to have the shutter of digital SLRs replaced, but I'm not too sure about film cameras. Would you have any advice?

Thanks again!

Is it true that it is common to have shutter replaced for dSLR? Anyone got their KM dSLR replaced before and how much? Wow.... looks like about time for me to send in mine for a check-up.

thanks

You could send it for the usual servicing, which includes servicing and lubrication. Its rare to need to replace the shutter blades due to fatigue unless the owner is a pro user.

I've sent my Dynax 7 for servicing 1 year ago. They not only resolved the issue, but also helped cleaned up the body for me (prism, viewfinder), so I'll say they do a good job.

Could someone kind enough to post the address of Sony's service center. Think it's time for me to send my 5 years old Dynax 5 to do some oiling and cleaning. Thanks

Sony Service Centre
#04-01, Wisma Atria, Orchard Road
Operating Hours : 11am-9pm Daily
Service Hotline : 6475 8345 (Mon-Fri 8.30am-5.00pm)

If you're familiar with Sony Gallery at Wisma Atria, it's the last room, the next one after sony-ericsson service centre. Remember to take the queue number for KM as they also has one for Sony products.
