Version 2 is more expensive as it has electronic contacts for your camera to be able to have metering.
This is designed for people who have cameras which doesn't allow aperture ring to be used.
You can simply buy version 1 if you're using D300 and above..

Yes. It is actually ZF mount and ZF2 mount. One is AiS type, the other is chipped to provide metering for all bodies D90 and lower.

    Hi All,

What about a non-ZF, Zeiss-labeled lens on an FX body? Something like the Distagon 2,8/28mm (made by Cosina and having a C/Y mount, and in no way designed for Nikon).
This is the front of the lens, and this is the lens bayonet mount:

Looking for a simple adapter, it seems that those that allow infinity focus include a lens element. I'm hesitant to add a third-party element for fear of image degradation.
Those that do not have an element, also do not allow infinity focus.
This has something to do with the distance of the lens flange to the sensor.

The only solution I've seen seems to be a replacement mount sold by Leitax that requires some modification of the C/Y mount.

Anyone here have experience with this?

    Thanks.

I see you've got 10D. Just get a C/Y to EOS and you should be able to enjoy this lens on the 10D, albeit in cropped mode.

No, my 10D was sold years ago. I'm on an FX Nikon now.

Profile/Signature edited for clarity. My apologies for the confusion.

Ah....then, that's the same case with me long ago. Gave up trying to mount other lenses on Nikon. My solution: Got myself a cheap Canon DSLR body for the purpose of playing with exotic non-F lenses. Lately, i got the Sony NEX5 which has mounts for all kinds of lenses and compact too. So now I've got three systems, Nikon, Canon and Sony.
