Where to buy in Indonesia?

Hi guys,

I have a friend who moved to Indonesia recently and wish to get some lens for his Canon. Any idea where in Indonesia (esp. Jakarta area) can find reputable camera shops (reputable more important than cheap in this case)? If possible please let me know the address of the shop or the area where many of these shops are located.

He knows it will not be as cheap as Singapore but shipping cost and possible damage en route is a concern for him.

There are many good camera shops at Mangga Dua Mall. The products will carry local warranty, from PT Datascript, and international warranty, from Canon. Most of the price will be cheaper than Singapore (surprising). Your friend can check the price at http://www.jpckemang.com/. This is a reputable shop in Jakarta, locate at Kemang, South of Jakarta.

Hey rendrat! Thanks for the info...will let me friend know. I tot Mangga Dua is famous for "inspired by original" goods? Got a M*** B**** pen for $1 there when I went there in 2005.

Yes, PT DataScript is the Canon distributor in Indonesia. There are many faked products in Indonesia, but only up to certain level. They can immitate MB pens, Nike shoes, LV wallets, and of course pirated software, but not something Hitech like lens or camera.

Kemang is at the south, and Mangga Dua is at the North West. Not near to each other.

Where are most of the camera shops located at? Something like the local SLS or Pen Plaza?

Not saying they imitate Canon lens or cameras but didn't know there are many camera shops at Mangga Dua.

At Mangga Dua Mall (Mal Mangga Dua in Bahasa Indonesia). It is a mall, where all the shops are facing inward (like the Funan IT Mall or SLS). Some shops are at ground floor and some on second floor.
