u can check the price guides for a list of gd shops, reliable too

when getting a cam, try it out (in a mode u noe how to use) with the kit lens, and see if u can use it easily; if not u may want to consider another model
just buy the cam if u like how it feels, the interface and stuff like that
of course there are 'grey' sets u have to beware of, but not usually at those shops on the price guide

and do check the price of the cam, and u can again compare it with the price guides; i think a d80 kit would cost just over $1600 now (or maybe less)

cheers and good luck

do check the price out properly. From the reputable shops, the price I asked recently was 1880, 1885. With cash, lowest about $1830. Cant be less then 1.8.

Some shops quote u without GST (those in simlim), some shops take out some stuff and make u pay for them. Do take note and buy from reputable shops only unless you know what you are paying for.

also heard from the nice guy that bought my D80kit recently. The less then 1.8K price is due to the coupling with the 18-55mm lens instead of the 18-135 kit lens of D80. Do check carefully.
