Default ===>warranty Card<===

Normally a receipt and a (1+2cc) yellow warranty card provided when we purchased nikon product. But let say if i bought a 2nd hand product with senario as stated below:

1) unfilled warranty with comp's stamp but warranty is over(As stated fr receipt)
2) unfilled warranty without receipt and stamping.

should i just fill the warranty and send to NSC??
Or other better idea...

IF i send a non warranty product to NSC for repairing/servicing..
What is the basic charge(S$) provided by NSC...
Need advice thanx

(Since it's a case sensitive , pl PM if u think it's sensitive )

Nikon doesn't expect you to send in the warranty cards to them. You're expected to keep them with the receipt and show them both when you wish to claim a warranty repair.

If you send an item in for repair and wish to claim warranty but cannot produce a receipt, they will check your item's serial number against their own database of when the item was shipped out to the resaler and calculate the approximated date of sale of your product, usually within 1-2 months of the product leaving their stores.

Unless it is an unpopular item, it is highly unlikely that the item would be in a store for more than a year.

I don't usually bother with filling up the warranty. When a piece of equipment needs some attention at NSC, I just bring down the blank warranty and receipt. They'll varify the details in their database, get my name and help me fill in the warranty.

Yep, I do visit NSC quite often, not my gear though, my company's.

if your receipt shows it is more than 1 year, no point. shipping in date must be earlier than the date of sale, isn't it?

just bring in for servicing. and yes, it is very expensive. alternatives are cheaper, but feedback is less frequent to judge how good they are.

Fr your explanation above,
Can be concluded that the unfilled warranty card do help to extend more than > a year but < less than 2 years of warranty ,am i rite?

As mentioned by the bros here... no receipt, no point...

Unfilled warranty or not, if there's no receipt to back up the claim that it's still under warranty, then I believe NSC will charge it as a non-warrantied item.

Nope,

The warranty begins from the date of the receipt, not the day you fill in your warranty card.

What I've been trying to explain is that there isn't a need to fill in the warranty; and if you don't have a receipt, they will just check against their database for the time shipment to the dealers and add 1 or 2 months to that date to estimate the start of your warranty.

For example, if you bring in you item without a receipt, and they found that the item was shipped to the original retail shop on 20th July 2006, and that item is a popular one, they would estimate that the item was sold, latest, 20th August 2006, which means that the warranty would expire on 19th August 2007.

Unless you could get *cough* get *cough* some shop *cough* *cough* to *cough* to *cough* issue *cough* *cough* *cough* *cough* *cough* *cough*

no. they use the warranty card to judge the type of warranty faster (local, overseas, international) if they are not familiar with the receipt.

1 year means 1 year. you can't outsmart them.
