Just bought a battery operated mini hygrometer from Sim Lim Tower.
It shows temperature as well. It's model is S-263, look similar or even probably identical to the following design and make; http://www.tesscandinavia.se/produkt/avfuktare/s263.htm (Make in Sweden?) http://exceltarget.com/img/S263.jpg You can get it from Space Centre at Sim Lim Tower #01-01A below $25. There are at least 2 more stores selling similar product, check them out. Always check its' working condition (though new) before leaving the store. I use it as a backup and to counter checking the readings of the built-in hygrometer in my dry cabinet. Accurate? Will update this thread with my results. |

There's one sold here;
http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthrea...ighlight=icase Detach it from the dry box and put it into your dry cabinet. This analog hygrometer works just as good. |

After 48 hours.
I shifted the hygrometer to 4 different positions in the cabinet and each time resetting both RH to 65% before closing the door. The RH & temperature shows 6% and 1degreeC difference respectively with built-in hygrometer being lower. The differences were consistent over the period. This shows both hygrometer are working except which is the correct reading I cannot tell. Bear in mind, these hygrometers are not of the expensive professional type, so different reading can be expected as long as both work and all falls below 50% RH and within 40%-50% range. This is my opinion. By the way, I don’t think such simple devices can be calibrated except at the manufacturing level, just like the usual digital thermometer that puts in under our tongues. I’m using my 3rd analog hygrometer to test again, and at the mean time I’m happy with both.

can I borrow this thread to ask a related question?!
![]() Following the advise of CSers from other threads.. i have been going around several hardware shops to find a low cost analog hygrometer but to no success. All of them sell electronic ones about $25 - 30+ Does anyone know any particular shop sells analog hygrometers for, say, less than $8? ![]() |

went to shop for this item just now...
steel finishing... nice design... reasonable price abt <$15. 1 big problem. have to gather at least 100 pcs in order to get this item. I am asking them whether i can pay higher for small quatity but no ready stock in hand now.

Forgive me for posting in an old thread, but I'm interested in obtaining an (old-fashioned) analog hygrometer to verify that my dry cabinet is working properly.
Has anyone had any experience with the analog hygrometers used in humidors (for storing cigars)? I am thinking of getting one from eBay, but the shipping is such that it's more economical to buy four (would work out to about $12.50 each, inclusive of shipping). I might take up this option if there are three other members willing to split costs with me. |
