I just bought a 400D from alan photo.. I was told to purchase the extended warranty online, any links?

For 400D the extended warranty is $150 for 2 more years You get a free EF 50mm f1.8 lens when you send up for the extended warranty.

It's S$180 inclg GST now. I wonder if they are still throwing in the free lens? Anyone know of a way to check wo calling CSC?

I recalled that the promo was for the 400D purchased sometime between Sep07 and mid-Oct07.... I think 01Jun was not within the promo period..

I was told by CSC that purchasing price of extended warranty after 14 days of purchase date is higher.

It may also be even higher when purchase near the expiry of the original warranty period.
Check with CSC to confirm this.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. These terms and conditions apply to the WARRANTY PLUS programme ("Extended Limited Warranty") of Canon Singapore Pte Ltd (“Canon”).

2. The Extended Limited Warranty is an extension, subject to these terms and conditions, of the original limited warranty (“Original Limited Warranty”) from Canon in respect of the model of equipment ("Relevant Equipment") specified in the application and which is distributed by Canon and purchased from Canon or its authorised dealers in Singapore:

3. The Extended Limited Warranty is valid only in Singapore to the original purchaser “Purchaser") of the Relevant Equipment and is not assignable or transferable.

4. The application for the Extended Limited Warranty must be submitted to and accepted by Canon at least one (1) month before the expiry of the Original Limited Warranty.

5. The Extended Limited Warranty is invalid unless a confirmation (“Confirmation”) confirming Canon’s acceptance of the customer’s application for the Extended Limited Warranty is issued by Canon to the customer. The Confirmation is invalid if it has been defaced or ltered. Lost or damaged Confirmations will not be re-issued.

6. The Confirmation, original Warranty Card (Purchaser’s Copy) for the Original Limited warranty (“Original Warranty Card”) and the Relevant Equipment purchase receipt (“Purchase Receipt”) must be presented when sending Relevant Equipment for servicing. The customer named in the Confirmation and Original Warranty Card must be the same. Only such named customer may enforce the Extended Limited Warranty. If the customer is a party other than an individual, Canon may require a letter from the customer authorising the nominated individual representative to deal with all matters relating to or arising out of the Extended Limited Warranty (including collection of Relevant Equipment).

7. Unless otherwise specified, the Extended Limited Warranty is valid for 24 months from the expiry of the Original Limited Warranty ("Extended Limited Warranty Period").

8. The Extended Limited Warranty covers defects in material and workmanship under normal use and installation of the Relevant Equipment subject to these terms and conditions.

9. During the Extended Limited Warranty period, Canon will provide labour and repair or replacement of the defective Relevant Equipment or parts thereof covered by the Extended Limited Warranty without charge. Any insurance, handling, transportation, delivery and other incidental charges in respect of the servicing of the Relevant Equipment shall be borne by the Purchaser.

10. All decisions made by Canon in respect of the servicing of the Relevant Equipment (including repairs, replacements or issues relating to defects of workmanship or materials) shall be final and conclusive and the Purchaser agrees to be bound by such decisions. Any defective Relevant Equipment or part thereof replaced shall become the property of Canon.

11. The Extended Limited Warranty does not cover:

a) Loss or damage to Relevant Equipment due to: (i) abuse and/or tampering by any person other than the authorised personnel of Canon; (ii) negligence and/or misuse (including accident, improper storage, exposure to moisture, excessive temperature, sand, dust, dirt, other pollution or other environmental conditions and failure to follow precautions or proper operating instructions stated in the instruction manual such as improper installations); (iii) fire, flood, lighting strike or other acts of God; and (iv) deficiencies in consumable parts such as battery leakage.

b) Defects, damages or accidents due to the malfunction, connection to or use of unauthorised parts (including re-conditioned, tampered, re-used or non-genuine Canon accessories and/or consumable items not recommended by Canon). In such event, Canon reserves the right to terminate the Extended Limited Warranty immediately.

c) Consumable items, accessories and optional items (including video head, bulb, drum/head
lamp, drum unit, print head, laser unit, batteries, battery pack, battery charger, power adapter, cables, connectors, software, tapes, CF/storage card, CD-ROMs, ink/toner cartridges and ink sheets).

d) Non-Canon products and software items and any other peripherals used in connection with the Relevant Equipment.

e) Lenses purchased together with the Relevant Equipment, whether as part of a kit of otherwise.

f) Relevant Equipment with its serial number removed, defaced or altered.

12. To the extent allowed by the applicable local law, the remedies in the Extended Limited Warranty are the Purchaser's sole and exclusive remedies. Canon shall not be liable for loss of data or any incidental, indirect or consequential damages (including loss of anticipated benefits or profits) whether based on contract, tort or otherwise, relating to or arising out of the Relevant Equipment.

13. No implied warranty, including that of satisfactory or merchantable quality or fitness for a particular purpose, applies to the Relevant Equipment after the Extended Limited Warranty Period. No other warranties (express or implied) or guarantee given by any other party in respect of the Relevant Equipment shall bind Canon.

14. The Extended Limited Warranty is not an international warranty and:

a) no entity other than Canon shall have any duty, obligation or liability to fulfill Canon’s obligations under the Extended Limited Warranty; and

b) Canon shall only be responsible for fulfilling its obligations under the Extended limited Warranty in Singapore only.

15. Nothing in any terms and conditions relating to the Extended Limited Warranty or otherwise relating to or arising out of the Extended Limited Warranty shall be deemed or construed to be a policy of insurance between Canon and the customer.

16. All terms and conditions relating to the Extended Limited Warranty shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore.

All Canon digital SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras come with one local carry-in warranty.
For local warranty, please remember to insist on a warranty card from Canon Singapore Pte Ltd.
