Default Meter in TLR

Am thinking of getting into MF so have some questions to ask with regards to TLRs. I am primarily looking for something sturdy that uses 120 film.

For starters, are there any TLRs with in built light meters (at this point, I don't really have the cash to spend on a Sekonic)? And if there are, are they accurate?

I am currently looking at some Yashicas like the
Yashicamat 124 (and the 124G)
Yashica LM (plus Yashicamat-LM)

I am also considering some Rolleicords. I read that the Minoltas are also pretty decent.

Wondering if anyone can give me some advice on any of the above (or recommend some good TLRs)? Also, is it easy to find people to service TLRs in Singapore?

I don't know anything about the Yashicamat cameras. However I have a Rolleiflex 2.8F, which has a built in light meter, that works, but the photocell reads about 1-2 stops under. I think that might be an issue with the age of the camera and I don't think the replacements are available anymore.

In terms of servicing, my Rolleiflex was reconditioned by P&G Cameras in Adelphi. I have also seen that there are a few shops around who can service these cameras in Singapore. Cam-X (serviced one of my FMs), and I have seen a few TLRs serviced in Camera Hospital.

Perhaps one suggestion is not to go for a Sekonic light meter, which is quite expensive. I am sure other people here would be able to recommend a light meter they use.

Thanks Keith. Yea, thinking also about getting a light meter that is not that expensive. I like the Sekonic 758D because it able to do spot metering too. But of course I am open to any good and reliable light meter.

Thanks too for the advice. May drop by P&G to have a look.

U can calibrate the builtin light meter.. unscrew and remove it from the body and make adjustement.. refer to the manual.

Replacement are available in ebay on and off.. bid around 150++ US$.

Re-adjusting the Exposure Meter

When the photo cell is completely covered, the indicator needle should be in zero position, pointing to the red reference line (a). If it is off this position, perhaps due to prolonged and heavy shaking, the meter can be re-adjusted as follows:

Loosen both screws on the front of the meter (I), until it can be removed from the focusing knob.

Turn adjusting screw on back of instrument (a) until meter needle points to the red reference mark 0.

IMPORTANT: Before re-inserting instrument: first set camera to DIN/ASA value 12, filter factor 0, shutter speed 1/500th sec. and diaphragm f:22, then insert exposure meter and tighten screws.

OK Thanks.

Does the same method work with TLR 2.8F as well as TLR 3.5.
