Totally agree with this. Some guys are need to hide behind their so-called "pro-equipment" due to their lack of "pro-photographs". Let them be.

On the other hand, sometimes when I bring out my DSLR, friends will mistakenly assume that all my shots will be "pro" . Just as disconcerting.

Not that I am bragging, my trusty D70s with my Sigma or Tamron (3rd party lenses) which I have just sold have put 10D, 20D, 30D, 1D, D2H, D80 (with their high end lenses like L's) photos to shame. So dun be bothered with their comments.

However, in the world of professional photography, pp need to carry big guns due to image. Big guns gave the clients the impression of professionalism. Hence every cents paid is worth the money. I am not saying that professional photography dun need big guns.

Some of my clients actually question me what cam i used. They were even asking me whether that equipment is good enuff until they saw my images.

By the way, nothing beats the old medium format. Still gives the best contrast and colour. The contrast is so different from digital.

Not sure what lens u carry but u definitely need lens that are more than kit to produce good photos. There are 3rd parties which are good. the Canon 50mm 1.8 is a damn good value for money lens

Canon kit is lesser than Nikon Kit. So nikon users dun fire me on this. Nikon 18 - 70 is a very good kit.

My opinion is based on my friends' images direct out of the camera. The colour is quite off. Gives a feeling of lack of colours.

Anyway, dun get me wrong and perceive me as a Canon troll. I am neither a supporter of neither dark or white sides since I use both systems.

lol photoshop is really useful to save the colours but if the original pic has poor composition no amount of pp can save it.Well you could add lots of effects in the pic and call it abstract
Yaya i know u pentax supporter and take fantastic landscapes
as for pentax taking over singapore

If u hobbyist, u have plenty of time to tweak the colours. But if u are a professional, can u imagine u have to tweak few hundreds or thousands every week. Hence, lens is still an important component of photography.

And pls dun tell me the person behind the camera theory. That theory is just as good as the equipment whore theory. Both are extreme views. It is a combination of various factors that produce a good photos. My 2 cents.

    0.o
are you sure the professionals tweak so slowly
i remember ansel adams always tweaked all his photos in the darkroom individually
depends on what sort of professional you are, i guess
i'm not sure about the industry, so won't comment

yes, definitely a balanced view is best
with better equipment you can achieve MORE, that is undeniable
but with less equipment, you still can achieve something, that is my point

the person usually tends to limit the camera more than the camera limits the person
    when it's free for all
unless you're talking about executing a preconceived concept
    then that would depend =)

Just carry on with your shooting, you don't have to prove anything to this bunch of guys.

Just ignore those ppl lah, i always believe in good photographer that makes the cut. I myself just bought a new 40D to upgrade from my 350D, yet i tend to hide inside my bag and dun dare to show it in front of those pros or 'gang' becos i'm aware i'm not a "pro".
