Singapore Air Queue 2008 was a great success! It was a day full of queues:
1st - Pasir Ris MRT - 2 hours of queueing under the hot sun. Very chaotic. People cutting the queue 'cos no one which is the start and end of the line. When you think you are almost near the boarding of the shuttle, you'll be surprised to see that there is still a very long snake-like queue. 2nd - Changi Village JAM - Another 1 hour jam going to the place as there is a road construction happening near Changi Village making it a one-lane road. 3rd - Entering the place - Another 30 minutes of standing in line just to get in. Human jam of people who were leaving the place and people who were entering the place. 4th - Drink Stall - Didn't bother to buy any drink 'coz sick and tired of lining up already. 5th - Bus going back to Pasir Ris MRT - 1 hour of queuing just to board the bus. I feel sorry for the little ones who were so excited and looking forward to this event. The marketing and advertising of the show was very good. But the preparation for the logistics and anticipation of the number of people was very poor. How could the organizers have not prepared for this when they would fairly have an idea on the number of people expected to come as most (like myself) bought the ticket online? If it was possible to get a refund, I would have done so and not wasted my day on this. |

The crowd going back home at 1600 hrs.
![]() ![]() Non World Class preparation. I'm ashamed that it was poorly organised.

I pity the children and the elderly, they suffered the most in the sweltering heat going back home.

Been to the past 2 air-shows and another one long time ago.
Must say that this time, I wished that I did not go. The queueing to get-in and queueing for the buses were very disorganised - queue jumping to get in, & shoving to get on the bus. When I reached there, I can't find the queue to get in. They also did not check for tickets ![]() But I must say, I have a better view of the flight display at this new location. I walked 3-4km from Changi Village to the new exhibition site, and it took an hour. I thought it was the same old site. After reading about the messy queue at Pasir Ris, I feel better. ![]() |

Well, the pilots do wear the Black flight suites, which is something only the Black Knights team wear. |

After dinner and shower, cool down a bit now...
Are there good things at this air show? e.g. 1. free buggy ride if you're tired of walking 2. friendly personnels explaining the aircrafts and taking photo when asked 3. police officers tried their best to control crowd and direct shutter buses 4.? |

Just another example of poor crowd handling skills here in Singapore. Why is it always like this with the Singaporean authorities and organizers. There must be something wrong in the local way of thinking. Singapore should really think twice for having the F1 and Youth Olympics if the crowd handling skills are at this level.
But this time it was the worst! 1. The ticket buying process at the post office took about 10 minutes to buy 2 tickets!!! (no queue) 2. I Could not buy the ticket at SAM machine yesterday, post lady say it was expired already. Still the info in Straight Times today (one day later) say you can buy tickets at SAM! 3. Airshow website (and Straight Times) say you cannot buy ticket on-site. So why did they have ticketing booth selling tickets inside the security tent at the show? 4. 10.30 am at Pasir Ris was a chaos. With such crowds you have to be able to load many buses (5-10) simultaneously! We called a taxi and got to the show. 5. No signs for entrance or anyone guiding for entrance. All you could see was a tent with "Registration" and 2 doors. I asked why I need to register because I already had the tickets? 6. The security check resources were totally undersized. 7. No proper restaurants or drink vendors. If they were there, at least I did not find them. 8. The aerobatics show was ok but nothing spectacular. For me the most impressive was the Korean T50 (?). 9. The show was more like war show rather than air show. Kids playing with guns and rockets like toys. Many of the exhibitors had already closed their section while the others had closed the access for public. I think they should separate civil arishow and military war trading fare. 10. After all, not very much of different aircraft. Only 3 civil helicopters and few small aircraft. Quite dissappointing. 11. Final thing was the exit. Quite a disaster. You simply cannot fill the busses from one point. Happy to get home finally. Well, all I can say that if was an Experience. But I hope not to experience Singapore Airhow again.... |
