Hello,
I would like to pose a question with regards to the 'proper' resolution of the photos that are used for magazine printing. Let take the assumption that a photo is cropped smaller (4:3 ratio) @ 300 dpi. Is 300 dpi resolution for the cropped photo good enough for printing? TIA. ![]() |

Thanks for the reply, ExplorerZ. So you meant that for an image that will be 4 x 3 inch on paper, the resolution should 1200 x 900 pixels? Is this correct?

Sorry, anyone has any idea about the exact dimension of a 3R photograph? 4x6 is 4R right?

3R = 3.5" x 5" (1,050 pixel x 1,500pixel)
4R = 4" x 6" (1,200 pixel x 1,800 pixel) 5R = 5" x 7" (1,500 pixel x 2,100 pixel) 6R = 6" x 8" (1,800 pixel x 2,400 pixel) 8R = 8" x 10" (2,400 pixel x 3,000 pixel) S8R = 8" x 12" (2,400 pixel x 3,600 pixel) 10R = 10" x 12" (3,000 pixel x 3,600 pixel) S10R = 10" x 15" (3,000 pixel x 4,500 pixel) |

http://www.drycreekphoto.com/icc/usi...r_profiles.htm the above link has a chart somewhere near the bottom of the page where the sizes of noritsu and frontier machines are displayed. i usually print on fuji paper so i am a little more familiar with frontier machines. there are three settings, fill in, fit to and no resize. to be accurate, get the pixel dimensions from your lab. |

try to use a similar resolution to that of the photo u r printing using an extremely high resolution to print a photo with low DPI will result in the photo looking a little weird, and quite fake although its not obvious most of the time, it can be |

Noritsu has diff type of machines. Some 300DPI while some is 350DPI. Makes a diff if your image is not of teh std size.
