Sony Flagship - the Canon 5D Killer ?

Been hearing rumours that the new Sony flagship will be 24MP 35FF and priced to compete with the Canon 5D. Anyone else been hearing the same ?

really? crap. i prefer lower megapixel - better noise control, maybe better dynamic range. plus less demanding on my pc.

d3 is looking good... and only 12mp

believe it was mentioned by a certain nikon user in dpreview,
let hope it for real... but let not forget that the 5D cost abt s$6k here when first released

I think Sony should reveal some specs and price for A900 and let their existing/potential customers know which one to go for. Some might be sick of waiting and buy the A700 and regret the purchase when they finally release info on the A900.

arhaha... if a900 is priced like close to 3k.. then maybe I will regret buying a700 (if i do buy it)...if a900 cost anything more than 3k.. den i probably wont be able to afford it in the near future anyway.. so no regrets.. haha

Well, looks like the additonal 12 Mpix will be the region that is cropped out of the exiting APS-C sensor. So if the Noise performance for the 12MpIx is good then the 24 Mpix would probably be about there. Well, I personally prefer larger sensor cells though....no need to big a Mpix.

I think 16.7Mpixels to meet those Stock photography requirement would be a good compromise on size and noise.

I will be interested to know if sony will still retain into using alpha mount on its FF Camera if notmost of my past investment of lens on my A100 will go to drained. Got news inform mi...

this rumor first came from a nikon fans idea about D10/D20 series 24M pix CMOS from SONY,,,,price lower than 4K

but as i know the machine still in prototype, and will not be finally confirmed until canon 5D upgraded version out first

Dun think Sony will change the lens mount. Otherwise, they wouldn't have bought over KM to continue developing from there. Moreover they have just launched 1 DSLR till date & it's unlikely they will change the mount given that there is already an A-Mount CZ lens.
