There are reports that say the Nikon DK-21M magnfication eyecup will fit the Pentax k100D. This eyecup is also reported to attract less dusts and fur than Pentax's O-ME53 eyecup. Has anyone tried this?

I was using the DK21M till I misplaced and lost it. I really hope to find it cos its not cheap man.
It fits my old DL2 pretty snug without modification and I'm sure it'll fit the K100D too. The Pentax version looks more inplace installed when compared to the Nikon one. |

Will these eyecup help in manual focusing in that we can tell if our focusing is not spot on? This is to prevent the situation whereby we preview the photo on the pc and realise that it is out of focus.

uhm... all it does is to magnify the images we see thro the viewfinder.
I guess it may help "a bit" for me but its more of a user thingie. A better mod will be changing the focusing screen to a traditional split screen like those by katzeye or some sourcred from china. At least you can align those vertical/horizontal lines better for more spot on focusing. |

Yes it does help... quite a lot. The Pentax eyecup is cheaper.
I believe the Nikon DK-21 goes for about $60 or so whereas I paid about $35 for the Pentax O-ME53. No it doesn't collect dust. Where did you get that idea?

why would an eye cup attract dust?
![]() anyways, even if it does, i doubt you'll see it clearly unless it is enormous dust, should be oof with regards to eye when you are looking through, ehehehe |

Fellow Pentaxians, go and GRAB this item from VSonic06. His price is really low.
Thought I didn't need it before but after I got it, I'm a believer! Does make a difference... plus with it in place, your nose is a little further than the LCD screen. ![]()

Sorry...I don't mean literally that the O-ME53 will collect dust. What I meant to say is that there are other forumers that say the type of rubber used in the O-ME53 is more susceptible to get furs and "dusts" to stick to the rubber itself..I don't mean dust will stick onto the screen.
There are some pics I have seen on the net but I am not sure where it is now. I just want to know user's experiences. |
