Nice concept though, but I think you had taken in too wide angle, zoom in closer to the elderly man resting and a little blur background with river water would be better, cause right now, the colourful canvas tentage shelters are causing too much distraction and draw the attention away from the resting elderly man.

@Bored Dad
hi, i'm relatively new to photography, just wanna ask you a little stupid question.
you said that i need to blur my background. how to to that? should i do it post shoot (PS) or using my camera setting?

fyi, i'm using D80 with kit lens
my setting for that pic was:
shutter speed: 1/500
f4.5
iso 100

thanks in advance....!!!

alvin, u can take a look at wikipedia, there is some good explanation there. The bottom portion is mainly some calculation and formula so you can choose to skip that part if you wish to.

woow... u really read all this formula n calculation?? nicee....
thanks for your reference.

anyway, i have digitally blurred the background for the above pic

1 question tho... i'm using kit lens, and when i zoom the aperture diameter increases thus increasing the DOF. how do i get (let's say the pic i have taken above) to blur the background when i zoom in? what kind of setting should i use?

move closer to ur subject and zoom in... the closer you are and the longer focal length will make shallower dof.
