Well, the major problem is capital. Bandwidth and server hosting costs are not cheap locally.

Default online photo albums

Hi,

For open discussion,..

To deploy a online photo storage farm is not diff,
just need to work out the business models, costing per user per account and storage model, limited or unlimited.

Internet Bandwidth is cheap, so are the cost of the servers.

The only main problem, is that, there isnt any keen interest to deploy such a photo storage farm.

Qns would, wat's the pick up rate like, size of growth of the farm, ROI..etc

Yesh, SG Internet sector does lack of such features and services.
So far, dun see any ISP rolling out a good services on this yet!

In line with this, dun see any online video storage farm either!

If, there is a market for it, perhaps, we can push forth..

there exist such services already except not very well publicized and not free.

for example, pacific internet has ephoto value services.

i saw that pBase is quite a popular choice for most forum users here with its simple user interface and appearance, but heard that it will be charging a fee soon? will u guys pay a minimal fee for a local photo host, on local servers and appear much like pbase?

If there's a plan for you guys to host :

Your own domain name (www.yourname.com)
Installation of gallery script
200MB of space
3 Email Account
1FTP account

For 12/month.

OR

Your own domain name (www.yourname.com)
Installation of gallery script
150MB of space
1FTP account

FOR 8 dollars/month

Anyone will be interested? If there's a demand for these, I won't mind providing it. All server are located in Singapore

ClubSNAP has both - webspace to store your images, as well as gallery software that enables you to quickly display albums.
