Default Compare sensor base and lens base image stabilization

Interesting info from POP photo magazine, at least we know Sony sensor base image stabilization or SSS is working quite well and comparable to lens base IS/VR. Hope Alpha 700 will be even better , like change a camera will upgrade all your lens

Sony A-100: 2-3

They found improvements for both systems to be slightly better for longer lengths than wider.
The improvements for lens based varied of course by lens. Most gave 2-3 stops.
The best was Nikons 18-200mm f3.5-5,6 D ED AF-S VR: 3-4
Canons best was EF-S 70-200 F/4 IS USM: 2.5-3.5
Some gave considerably less.

i believe the olympus and pentax users would disagree with the abv finding...
but then my record was handheld at 1/5 without AS at 17mm

Because they are not programmed to work together. It could be possible in future?

Default My thoughts on why the stackd solution is bad...

Hiee pals...

Here is a diagram to show why i think the two OIS + CCD shift solution cannot be stacked
and operated as it is unless they are design to work in a complementary manner or differentialy.
It can however work if the firmware is designed to have both system as a solution.

i like AS built in body because it saves money, all lenses mounted on it are "IS" liao.

I actually don't see how that would be helpful... unless they mounted the sensor on a gyroscope, no amount of compensation will work for very long focal lengths or very slow shutter speeds... not even body AS and lens IS...
