Add on Glass to DSLR's

Please advise what 4/3 system means. Is that size where lense fixes into camera. With the new Minolta lenses intoduced not long ago, Minolta Germany indicated they will fit their new DSLR.
With that statement, I not not think Minolta will change mid stream
Could some one advise sizes of where lense fits into camera body, by make.
A silly question maybe, but say I was to purchase a 10D, can I now go to used photo equipment shops and see if there are any good buy on lenses that will suite the D10. Some shops have lots of big lenses at reasonable prices, maybe 1/3 of original price. Does DSLR's need a lense designed for digital.

Do I read that there will be a new standard for "Lense Mount" and that there will be a new range of lenses that may take years to manafacture; Or will, Olympus release new compatable lenses a time of release of ne DSLR.
I understand Olympus is up there with the best so would consider over the 10D. Looking at Olympus photographs, the colour space looks good.

Is it wrong to say, the the 4/3 will be "a common standard" for DSLR lense mount. There are only three to take up standard. Nikon, Canon, Minolta, Pentax, etc have not.
Same as Memory cards. Just another range to add.
Where is the Fortron sensor these days. Will that sensor be compatible with 4/3.
Maybe if I buy a DSLR soon, it will be outdated like my computer is next year. Should I wait for what standard.

It's a new standard alright - though not everyone's taking part.
As for the lenses, I'm not too sure but I believe they'll release their own range of lenses. With Olympus and Kodak at the front, and Fujifilm supporting them, it does show some promise.

Right now, the only lenses announced are from Olympus and it still doesn't provide a decent wide angle solution. Kodak doesn't make lenses and Fuji's support of the 4/3 standard seems lacking given the fact that they have not made any direct announcement supporting the standard or stating the extent of their participation. This new standard has the potential to lower the system cost of a DSLR and lenses as well as make it more compact, however, if support and demand is lacking, it may well die out.

If you really need a DSLR now might as well just get one from either of the established systems as these are full systems already established.

Well, at least it'll be Kodak, Olympus and Fuji's commmon standard.

Dunno what's tat; only heard of Foveon X3 sensor though.

There has been a lot of debate regarding all these technology chase, just check out the rest of the forums.

Well, technology is also advancing ever so fast (Moore's Law) - there's really no "best time" to buy these hi-tech stuff. Just buy it if it satisfies your needs (and wallet).
