Default A700 High ISO Test Pic

Wow this pics taken from ISO 3200 ~ 6400 looks good! (mean noise control good) Taken by Damir Tiljak @PhotoclubAlpha.
Personally I don't do pixel-peeping but it does look promising.Do bear in mind these pics are from a pre-production A700. Full report here.

Where's the grainy noise?
It'll be interesting to see ISO6400 with full HDR

Drudkh, I've read similar wants from forumers in DPreview too. As someone new to Digital imaging could you post a pic examples where there is grainy noise? Does the grainy noise produce a nicer overall look to the pictures or becoz u prefer to reproduce pictures as similar as the ones from the film era?

I'm also a bit confused why some Pro's prefer detail over noise (though too much detail loss render the picture useless). Maybe they produce A3 and above prints. Anyway I always send images to labs to produce A4-A5 size pictures only. So a 6mp or 12mp file can't differentiate the image detail in A4 or A5 print, I guess.

Anyway, I shoot exclusively in Aperture mode and rarely use beyond ISO 200, but to have useable ISO 3200 and above is more than welcome. For me, that translate to no need to use flash or tripod in some situation for poor lighting condition. To see that A700 is capable of producing that is good news to me as anyone knows the IQ of KM 5D at ISO 3200 is not so good.

Sorry for the many newbie questions.

It's a giant leap in terms of noise control.

Yes, as far as Sony is concerned , it certainly is ................ then again it's nothing new to N/C.

Btw, anyone noticed how "washed-out" the images are?

I supposed the images were all taken in good lighting. Hence it can't really represent the real improvement. Perhaps we should wait for proper review.

Those photo seem to shot under dull lighting, may be can try this (non-english) website

The colour and high ISO noise look quite OK to me, and I think ISO 3200 is usable like ISO1600 in KM5D.

Anyway, can't complain about the noise on the new cam ............... at least Sony heard your complaints about the noise.

Cause u can remove noise with software but you cannot add details that are lost.

Some report colour is similar to Alpha 100
So if you are OK with Alpha 100 colour, then shouldn't be much problem?

Which system are you on at the moment bro?

The photos are from pre-production model, results may vary from the final production model.
