I was playing with my laser pointer and got an idea...
I thought, why not try writing with it and creating a signature? So I fixed a simple rig and tried. It worked quite well. Camera in Bulb mode, written using a laser pointer on a black cardboard. Of course, the original image was far too large, so I had to crop and resize. Quite simple to do, just need a little practice to write with a laser pointer in a dark room on a black background steady enough to make it usable. ![]() ![]() Best is I think the smallest one. I don't want to show the original since that is far too large. Try it out with your own signature and post the image below.

This isn't my gallery, but it was like an experiemental light workshop I went to where we painted with light:

OMG!!! That is so freaking good and creative!!!!! No offence to Olyflyer, but I thought your laser pointer thingy was already great but the light thing was way better in my humble opinion.

Anyway, I did not show my signature to you as a work of art, it is just a signature, nothing else. The challange in it is to do something similar. Try to write Oly5050 with a laser pointer and post the image. I hadn't used any helplines, other than four markings for left/right/top/bottom center points of the image border. I tried first without, but far too often failed to keep my writing within the covered area. Not so easy as random images...

Personally I feel experimentation (or random graffiti) is a lot more interesting though...I recently did some at a fair on the midway at night with the shutter held open for several seconds, and just walking along or panning the camera as well as some where I moved the camera in a certain pattern (the white light on the right shows the movement of the camera) to create patterns with the lights (just to show some of the ones that weren't so random and planned): The larger versions are located in: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/08...llh/lightplay/ |
