Default Photographers: How do you defer for reservist?

    Hi guys,

Currently I'm doing full time photography on my own, but have not yet register for a business. However, my reservist is coming up in Jan 2008 where there have been quite a lot of booking for my wedding photography service.

Is there any ways to defer?

I'm considering the option of registering for my business as a sole-propieter in home-office but operates it from a office in downtown - which i'm moving in soon... is that possible? If so, can I still defer from reservist?

    Appreciates all inputs.

Yup this is what I'm thinking..

But if it's a sole-propieter business, it can be done right? Even if I've already received the notification for Jan 2008 and I register the business now, I can still defer the Jan 2008 reservist? Is this how it works?

    1st ICT: start new business
    2nd ICT: get married
    3rd ICT: make wife pregnant
    4th ICT: have 2nd child
    5th ICT: have 3rd child
6th ICT: complain heart problem - downgrade PES E
    MR!!!

frankly speaking, unless you are outstation or marries/have child which sure get deferred, a new job or business does not automatically get you deferred. Depends on your OC/commander.

Why defer? just go serve lor.. defer now, suffer later, i know, cos i have been there, done that. and have many more HK to go.. sigh.

Defer ah...I think very very difficult, unless you're studying and have exams or major projects which will affect your grades very much. If not, don't think your unit CO will allow you to defer.

I've got defered twice in my entire reservists' days. First is when I've just started my first job for less than 3 months and my manager wrote in to complain. Second is when my reservists period fall on my exam days. This time, my lecturer wrote in to complain.

they will gif u chance n let u off for this instance.

It all depends on your reservist CO as the deferment letters are faxed to him.

Back when I was a clerk handling reservist matters, even sole proprietor also kenna reject deferment. However, an MP letter might nudge the CO a bit.

Haha! Can AWOL for the whole duration of my reservist 14 days?? If can and no bad record on my life, I actually want to do it! $50 is peanuts compare to what I can earn during that period of time!
