    seems like everyone's hdd are falling like flies...

    can't believe my 1 year old sata2 WD failed when my 8 years old 9GB WD IDE is still going strong... i guess they don't make them as lasting as they do anymore...

    Maybe spinning them at the high RPMs nowadays cause premature death.

    Taking abit of time and not that much more $ to have a 2nd backup is more economical than having to pay a recovery company if you ask me.

    technology can't be trusted. Sigh. Lost all my baby photos. Real sad.

    Sorry to hear that.
    Hope you will get over it soon and start regular backup from today.
    For very important photos create multiple copies. Backup DVD or external harddisk do fail sometimes.
    For favourite personal photos, print out hard copy and keep in album.
    At this digital age, I still believe in hard copy.
