Smile Baby Sun Skink

Hello, I'm new around here and rather new to photography as well. Here's something that I've taken recently and hope for your comments for improvement. The Skink's tail was too long, had to crop the picture a little.

COlour balance looks off, was it taken at night with streetlamps as the illumination?

i like this picture, the colour contrasts are nice and the focus is spot on to me
however, the abrupt interruption of the tail is a problem, it is as if the picture has gotten chopped up
for some reason i find myself desiring to see the entire animal

you mention that you cropped it, do you still have the original?

Hi night86mare,
Yes I still have the original photos of this little fella. Thanks for your compliments. I found it a little difficult to crop it to 600x400

Hi Zac,
No it wasn't street lamp. The fella was climbing up some step in which the edges were painted yellow. Perhaps that explains why there's a yellow hue?

I see, so the flashlight used created the hue from the reflection of the paint..

No Flash used. Heeee just setting sun, if I remember clearly it was 4-5pm slight overcast sky. I was laying on the ground taking peeks.
