Whats the use of shooting quantity when there is no quality hmmm?

2 wrongs don't make a right. Shooting 10000x shots without realising what is wrong isn't going to produce 1x good shot. So... back to my point. What is the use of shooting quantity if you're not self-evaluating?

If there is quantity but no quality, you just end up with more lousy shots that's all...

But if you are clear in what you are doing yet you don't have experience, experimenting with more shots can help. Just don't do it blindly.

I don't believe that. You cannot simply cast the photographer as the bad guy and the model as the innocent party. It takes two hands to clap, if the model is wooden, there is a limit to how excellent the pix can be.

    Hi Oly5050,

Don't worry about the number of shots you are going to take.

At the end of the day it boils to this :
Having to sort through 90% of rubbish shot to get 10% good ones vs.
having to sort throughh less photo but missing the good shots

I'd rather the former. Anyway it's a model shoot, go enjoy yourself and fire away.

actually, you're right. a good photographer will bring capture the personality and beauty of the model, regardless of gender, looks and personality.

However, unless you have more time with the model, understanding them and to pose them, you'll need one who can pose to help you take good pics.

    this is not entirely truth..

when lousy photographer encounter lousy model, it is just like a blind leading and another blind, what kind of result can they produce??

when a lousy photographer encounter a good model, the good model will change a pose, a look after each shutter click, and keep on going without repeating the poses. the photographer just need to know when press the shutter release, provided he know where to aim and focus, don't screw up the exposure and WB.

If a good photographer encounter a lousy model, the photographer need to work extra hard, to get satisfactory results.

If a good photographer encounter a good model, this is don't need to say liao..

It varies it depends on the situation, and I can say that the style of presentation you are planning for your shoot, can affect how many shots are required to produce it.

I took about 430 grungy shots in 12 minutes during a band gig... - until my camera overheated.

These shots will be scaled down and compiled into a fast transiting flash show. So I needed a lot of shots for it.

At other times. I'd do a few shots, and if the situation allows, I'd take lots of time to plan and compose my shots. I believe, leaving yourself some time to compose the shot properly works better than lots of badly composed shots - which can land you in a PP fix.
