Hi all, been busy looking for my camera fault here and at dyxum. But seems so far not able to pinpoint the problem.
I was at AOH 2007 snapping happily when suddenly my camera freezes. Only by switching off and on again it normalize. A review of that particular shot shows top 1/3 of frame is black horizontally. I thought it was my Sandisk Extreme III went faulty, which I bought recently. Anyway, was in the hot sun for quite sometime already and thought due to temp too. So I change to a Kingston CF. Format it and fire, same problem occured. Beginning to panic, I switch it off. After 15mins, use it again and it was fine. But after 10+ shot, it happened again. Switch it off longer this time - 1hr and went to the air-con exhibition tent nearby. Also did a factory default reset. Later, tried it again and no change to situation, in fact got worse - every frame taken is black. Given up and later went home and visual inspect the cam. Using the Clean CCD function I notice the shutter is still in view blocking the sensor. Does this show shutter problem? Intend to send to SSC but a search here found that a guy (fatigue) able to repair cams. Did sms him and was given a quote. Can anyone suggest where to send for repair as this is my 1st cam fault, SSC or fatigue (David)?. Coz I've got no idea whether this is a simple fault or otherwise. Been using it since 2005. Thanks. ps: Just when Sony is abt to launch their new cam this happen. Is this a hint ![]() Last edited by greenieadi; 3rd September 2007 at 02:33 PM. |

never face or see any cases match your issue before, you can send in SSc and as for a quote 1st, too expensive then go for Fatique? Also, will Fatique have the parts for repair?
Though the 1st shot blank issue will also hang the camera, but usually only 1st shot after no longer in usage a really long time, and it's all blank/black rather than 1/3 shot.

![]() This was one other "better" ones. Deleted the rest there and then. See the top part darkened. This one about 1/5th of the frame. |
