Default Printing Problem

Have the following problems when using Canon S820 printer today.

Always get this message from PS: The image is larger than the paper's size; some clipping will occur.
Please advise what image size to set in PS to avoid clipping for A4 size.

Also, has anybody used Sepom High glossy photo paper? Bought during the PC show and image smudged like mad. The ink just cannot stick to the paper. Printed on the glossy side, correct?

Whoa same printer and paper too! Thr's a lot of discussion in the "Printer" section oledi. Check it o ut!

Anyway, yr problem with the clipping will be solved if u click on the "Print with Preview" then there will be a choice for u to "Scale to fit media".

Eureka!!!

Default canon s820...

Hi

I hope I can help you. .. i am also using the canon S820 printer... just letting u know my experiences:

1. Always get this message from PS: The image is larger than the paper's size; some clipping will occur. Please advise what image size to set in PS to avoid clipping for A4 size.

I think your original canvas size is not set to A4? please try to work on an A4 size paper b4 printing..

2. Also, has anybody used Sepom High glossy photo paper? Bought during the PC show and image smudged like mad. The ink just cannot stick to the paper. Printed on the glossy side, correct?

I have used the Sepom High glossy photo paper.. both the 4 by 6 and the A4 sizes. .and they worked well enough for me to show my portfolio to people.. .maybe you should set the paper type to 'high gross photo paper'?

Please try again.. .

Sorry ... but I also have a problem with my Canon S820.. .wondering if anyone can help me?

Initially it was ok.. but after much printing... now whenever I print anything.. the top would have some black lines .. .while the bottom of the photo paper would smear a bit.. .can anyone tell me how to solve this problem? Is the ribbon, etc. dirty ? If so, how can I change or clean it?

Please advice.. thanks!!

we experience that in our office using S820 too. i believe that the calipers graping the media (for borderless) is smuged with the black ink or something. happens after the fifth printout onwards, i wonder why?

- do you mean Image size?

Tried a few but can still see colour very rough, like oil on water effect, not smooth like orginal paper.

Please try again.. .

I hope I can help a bit here... picked up some tips from the Canon staff during the demo... hehehe...

If you want to print borderless mode, your image size MUST match the paper size. Becuase the A4 paper is 21 x 29.7 cm, so you must resize your image to that size.

Photoshop: Go to Image > Adjust > Image size

But because digital camera image is not same length and wideth as paper size, you will not get exactly that size. So you must set the shorter side of your image to 21cm or 29.7 cm, and the other side will be longer.

Then you must use set Canvas Size to "cut" the image down to the exact size of the paper.

Go to Image > Adjust > Canvas size

So the canvas size is exactly 21cm by 29.7 cm.

Then before you print, you must tick the Borderless printing ok, and you get perfect border-less print liao!

Hope you can understand what I saying...

I get this problem using Konica glossy paper. Set the paper thickness to envelope - so far has worked for me.

A4 (210mm x 297mm) or ( 7 x 9.9)

The width to length ratio is 7 x 10, wheres a 4R is 4 x 6.

So you have to resize accordingly.

For me, I do not use PS to print. I save the PS image and I use the Windows XP's Microsoft Photo Printing Wizard, from it's Picture and Fax Viewer.

It allows to to print the photo un-cropped but with a white border on either size or cropped and borderless. and it shows me the preview so I know what's been cropped.

You can turn on your "preview" feature of your S820's properties so that the printout will not be immediately printed when you select Print in PS.
you can preview the image first only when you are satisfied that you select "Start printing"
