Look like one of those where the artise paint over a canvas by tracing the image formed on it. (sort of like a pin hole camera) Maybe this is from the era before film was invented.

Wish I could see and "mo mo" (touch) this in real life. Any museum have this antique?

This isnt a camera.I believe it was made to shoot wallpapers for houses.Once they shoot then can just print can use as wallpaper.So,shoot 4 times and you can cover 4 walls.You can see the assistants around there waiting to start wallpapering the walls

I hope you meant that the device was made before film was invented...because if not, how did this photograph itself get taken? jk...

My guess is that it was one of the first prototypes of a 3000mm lens.. apparently trying to spy on a girl taking a shower about 2km away..heheh
