The reason extended warranty is available is because Harvey Norman is the seller for Oly at Comex.

I know it's a big longshot but will any new lenses be made available/launched at COMEX?
Or will there be any offers on Lenses/Accessories for that matter?

Be very careful with these extended warranty offered from dealers instead of those from Olympus direct. Check with them for the clause before making a hasty purchase. There are many cases where the dealers were taken to court for not honouring these extended warranties.

With all consumer purchases, please read the fine prints carefully. Remember, in Singapore, there are no consumer protection laws... so when something screws up between you and the seller, you are screwed...period. Most of the time, (not all), these extended warranties are scams to get more money from the consumer for the same piece of gear. They will later state that the damage or fault is due to negligence and pull up some fine print thing and refuse to honour the warranty claim. Then what happens? Are you going to spend a lot more money to take them to court? I don't think so regardless of what might be discussed. Seen too many of these things happening.
You are better off buying insurance for your gear... at least you are paying for an insurance policy. I did for mine. I can throw them into the river after fighting with my wife and still get a full claim. But the funny thing is, if it is strike by lighting or lost in an earthquake... this is an "act of God" which cannot be claimed. So buy these insurance policies based on what you need. I travel with my gears a lot, and therefore I needed an insurance policy to prevent theft and damage from bad handlers at the airport. Be warned. |

Good one Vsionic06! Especially if she doesn't let you get a new camera.
I was there this afternoon and left a bit disappointed with their bundling. I was waiting for Singapore Olympus to avail the E510 w 2 kit lenses, but they only did it for the E410 at S$1299. I am in a bind, should I get the E410 instead or hold out till they come out with 2 kit lenses for E510. Any advice? BTW, no names mentioned, have they known to back out from their extended warranty? |
