Default FL-50 question

i am using fl-50 on e510 for fill flash.
i noticed that the flash does not trigger in aperture priority mode in bright light.
i remembered it fired when i was testing in room lighting.
out in the field, the fill flash fires in manual or shutter priority mode.
my fav mode is aperture priority, can any experts here advise mi on how to
correct the problem ? thanks in advance.

You have the flash in Auto mode, right? Well, you have to set it to be always on, the lightening symbol must be selected in E-500 anyway. Don't forget to set flash compensation right, or else you will blow and overexpose the image.

Switch your FL50 to FP TTL AUTO mode

Your situation is probably caused by being in TTL Auto or Auto mode.

In very bright conditions, the camera is probably selecting a shutter speed that is above the Flash Sync speed (eg: 1/180 sec) and hence the flash does not fire. But with the Flash in FP TTL it will still fire above the sync speed.

But in FP TTL mode - the effective reach of the flash will get shorter as your shutter speed increases so that could also be why you're not seeing the effect of the flash on your subject.

Might work with DMC-L1...but not any other one (especially non-TTL cameras).

I believe in the Four Thirds platform, most, if not all, of the accessories would work across the cameras of the same platform. Just that in some cases, like IS, on different models of cameras, they might behave differently, but as much as possible, most of the accessories would work.

Glad to know that the flash system works fine on Oly and Panny bodies. Thanks for clarifying this, tomcat.
