About the same as the number of pictures our dear "sniffing out the dogs" boy here has posted in CS
Even the noob sion has posted more!
Fact is fact, if you are valuable people will keep you, there is no reason why a company would dump someone who can justify his seniority over some new greenhorn. If the company practises warped policies sooner or later the company will be in big trouble so you should be glad that you would no longer be working for them
If you cannot justify then that's seriously, your own problem
There are old people who get headhunted, so I don't really see any reasoning for fear, meritocracy is a self-rewarding practice; in the case in which you are inept, welcome to reality, no one, I repeat, NO ONE, owes you a living
Saying that you should be allowed to stay on because of seniority and previous contribution is dubious, because firstly if you have contributed in the past, in your 40s you are still very young by today's standards, shouldn't be affected unless you have some funny condition, which is not that common in the first place. Means you can continue contributing. Insisting that your time with the company equates to your having a right to be employed is just as ridiculous as an old man telling a young boy to shut up about the old man's skin being wrinkled because the old man is older, just that.
