charging battery for 1st use

hi,

i just bought a digicam and was instructed to charge the battery for 10 hours before 1st use. May I know y is there a need so? Is it ok if i dont?

10 hours?!!

The best place to find out would be the digicam manual. It would (typically) tell you how much charging time you need, and how to condition the battery for the first few charges
