Default Panasonic's new DSLR, DMC-L10

More here: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/re...hread=24476785

More choices is good, the L10 looks very strong compared with the E-510, it has a tilt and swivel LCD!

For the likely price, it should have an articulated LCD display.

I'm sure they've learned a lot from the DMC-L1 and it'll be everything you'd expect in real life, not just on paper.

I don't think that this is the replacement for the L1, which I expect a L2 to replace. The single digit series will still be their more upmarket 'rangefinder' body.

This looks more like a prosumer budget model, albeit a highly spec prosumer one that will take on the likes of the Nikon D80 and Canon 400D.

It looks just like the FZ30/50, which probably means very nice ergonomics.

looks good, the slower kit lens is probably to lower the cost of the camera. flip out swivel screen is really good!

panasonic tradition of camera naming seems to follow onto their dslrs lineup:

niche model / rangefinder styling: LC1 (prosumer) --> L1 (dslr)
consumer friendly / modern slr styling: FZ10/20/30/50 (prosumer) --> L10 (dslr)

still waiting for news on the leica D 14-150mm IS.

They do. They're just not in most people's budgets.

A new body from Panasonic will be a boost to the credibility of the 4/3 system, particulalry if priced competitively. No mention of in-camera IS, which is a big selling point for the E510. So I assume they are sticking the Lens IS.

the leica D 14-50 3.5/5.6 is an IS lens, can see the IS badge in the pic. panny will definately stick to lens IS since they have made quite a name for themselves with Mega OIS brand for the prosumer / consumer models.

its odd though, since it would have the same focal range as the earlier 2.8/3.5 leica D...would it would have the same lens barrel aperture control as with the 3 announced leica Ds. FZ series cameras has 2 control dials for aperture and shutter, so i wonder....

It would be a nice riposte to the latest Canon budget lenses with IS.

If it isn't too expensive (read: below 400 smackers) I just might get it.

the L1 was priced way too high for its feature set...but the L1 was a niche product to begin with. the L10 is likely going to be priced competitively or panny will never capture any piece dslr market share with all the recent announcements from the other players.

i doubt i'll consider getting the new IS lens, no real benefit with the E510. still waiting for the 14-150mm...do it all walkabout lens...

Considering that the L1 has come down in price. You end up buying the lens and getting a relatively inexpensive body with it. I noticed that the E-330 body was also bargain priced lately.

don't think the price of the L1 has dropped much here in singapore. well based on the leaked info, the L10 shares the same sensor as the L1 / E330, so it could be likely for the L10 to be priced close to the E510 / 410.

How can it be the same sensor as the L1 when the L1's sensor is only 7.2M while the L10 is supposed to be 10M. Digitally increasing the resolution even if it is done in-camera is a no-no.

More likely the L10 will use the same sensor as the 410/510.

The camera looks huge in that girl's hands. I dun think that it will be as light or as small as the 510.....
