Sorry, but I though the 35 mm is only up to f3.5? Or did I misunderstand the 1:4?

1:4 refers to the magnification ratio.

Ahhh..Thanks!

In any case, I think the 50mm also has its advantages right? It is brigher and faster and also has more zoom capabilities. Plus it is prime. So I guess it would be a good buy too. Poison, poison, poison.....

Weight the pros and cons and then decide - simple as that.

By the way - is this lens available for sale already?
Hmm in fact I already bought it yesterday in the afternoon. Already being sold in Singapore. Orion Sim LIm 6th Floor got it for about early $600. Quite good for a zoom macro 2.8 lens, however, the focusing is a bit lagging but very good sharp images. But of course cant compare to dedicated 35 or 50mm lens.

Love it.

One of a few "Test Shots" I took with the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 using flash / indoors. Did not use any tripod.

Trying to go for nature soon. Probably can see more vivid colour and details of the flowers/insects in the daylight.

Lately raining so no chance of testing it outdoors yet.

Your guitar strings are rusty... make sure you wipe them before you play... don't get cut by rusty strings... which guitar is this by the way?

Clean the guitar and start shooting macros on rainy days! My goodness... a Les Paul... envy... I never did pick one up because of intonation issues. Nice shot of the Les Paul, but you should have used a smaller aperture...

Thanks for the pointer. Appreciate it. Will take more shots to get myself warmed up for macro photography.

You can probably try with your lens down at a good shop but from what I've experienced with my OLY 35mm and 50mm... you'll have to be very close to the subject in order to focus (with the EX25 on) that in most cases (cos you're so close) you'll mess up the lighting on the subject unless you are shooting in a controlled way like in a still-life setup.

But hey - that's just my 2-cents... you have to (and should) try for yourself to see if you like it.
