Sorry if my question seem dumb, but anyone using the sigma 105mm macro uses any fliter? It seems that the fliter for zuiko lenses is different from that of the sigma 105mm....

there are many different types of filters available in the market uv, close up, star etc... but all of them has similar "mount" which is universal to all brands of lenses... the only difference is the thread size.... i believe the 105mm has a thread size of 58mm.... thus all 58mm filters can fit onto it.... of cos you would have to choose between the normal filters(simply protect you glass) or pay a premium for the better ones..... normally i believe ppl will get a normal UV filter just to prevent dust from collecting and scratches on the glass...

Yes it's 58mm or 77mm with the lens hood on.
But the front lens is recessed quite a bit in the barrel so I don't use any filter at all (except IR for fun). |
