It should only be 30% of your US sales, so hopefully if the majority of your sales arnt from the US, it wont be too bad.

I was looking at the latest notification from Shutterstock.com on the tax. Kind of confusing. It seems that Singapore do not have a tax treaty (i dont see Singapore being mentioned in the list) and hence, 30% of our income is being retained.

Can someone give more insights? Thanks.

any of you upload scanned image from negative?

I have some scanned image 16base scanning from shop, some websites accept some don't.. thinking of getting a negative scanner. Anyone of you used one for stock photo submission? can you recommend what scanner?

Yes & No. As Singapore is a non-treaty country, all your incomes from US photo-buyers will be taxed at 30%. For your income from non-US photo-buyers, you won't be taxed. You can check it out in your stats pages, they show very clearly how many sales of the month are from US customers, and how many are not.

    Hope it helps.

Eh if you dont submit you get an auto 30% tax and since SG is non-treaty it wont make a diff heh.. They have an online form to fill up anyways.

My payment from shutterstock was broken down into these figures
on August 2009, hope this helps on the tax issue.

Gross - US Source - Non US Source - Total Withheld - Net
    78.77 - 20.21 - 58.56 - 6.07 - 72.70

I received US 72.70 to my paypal.

I also signed their SG tax form last month.
Now waiting for my next payout but no news yet.

I have some problems with submitting the forms for Fotolia.com. Does anyone know how to do it? Thanks....

I just did mine on fotolia.
I just put in my name and country
My current address and city and country
For the part 9, I did not tick any boxes.
Meaning that I have no claims to any tax benefits.
    That's my own interpretation anyway.
Then I sign ( type ) my name.
    Then press submit.
