I went down at 12pm today and there wasn't any more 28-200mm PK mount. There was only a 28-70mm PK mount left.

That was fast! You went to the Marina Square one?
I got mine at ard 11.55am.
And from what I saw, there should be one more when I left.

Oh... I was also served by the indian guy...
Maybe the set I saw was reserved, or I saw wrongly...

Wah like tikam, tikam... Whoever lucky and fastest off the mark gets it. So bro alanswan, you managed to get it in the end right. Good lens because I bought a few a while back. At the price, it is definitely a steal. Even the Tokina 28-70mm isn't too bad. Very compact lens with very short focusing throw.

The lens is pretty good as a lens to shoot street scenes and candids. Colours are punchy. Being Tokina, build quality is pretty solid and the lens has unique short throw focusing ring. Only thing is it uses a 72mm filter, which can be expensive, and you have to source a hood separately. Heck if you buy a B+W 72mm filter, the filter costs more than the lens!!! This is why Pentax saves you money.

Sample street shot (pardon the dust speck)

Specs of the Tokina SZ-X 282:
15 elements in 12 groups, 135cm close focus, 1:5.5 magnification, 72mm filter, ø74×109mm, 690g

One of the Tokina's earliest superzooms. Can compare favourably with the Pentax 28-200mm that was probably made by Tamron.

I was even contemplating if I should buy before or after lunch.

Yeah, I bought a couple of the Tokina 28-70, 28-200, 70-210, 60-300 lenses. Gave the 28-70 and the 70-210 to my nephew along with my K10D. Ordinarily I'd avoid superzooms because they are pretty pricy when new. But this price was just too good to be true. No need to test, just grab. CP was selling the Tokina 28mm for a mere $15 but by the time I got wind of it, someone bought all that was left. Best thing is, CP tells me they got warranty!!!

Comparing with the Sigma lenses I have, I must say the Tokina lenses have the edge colour-wise and certainly in build quality. Very solid lenses but I'm afraid those who are accustomed to AF might give them a miss. Anyway I picked up a couple of cheap Hoya 72mm HMC UV filters from a second hand shop for $5 each sometime back so I'm covered filters wise. Happy shooting bro.

Thanks to Zenten, my camera now has split screen focusing...
The built quality of the screen isn't fantastic, but it does it's job.
And it's real easy to install too....
