Throw in 30k for cameras and lenses. I can assure you anything coming out will look good.....

Kodak makes a nice book, a bit old but v well written and illustrated called "Complete Book of Photography"

Nat Geo has a more modern series "National Geographic Photography Field Guide: Secrets to Making Great Pictures"

For a cheapo solution, go to Nikon' website which also offer tips

After reading up on basics - SHOOT!

Then read up on specific techniques eg panning, flash, bulb and try then out - SHOOT more

There is no substitute for practise, but get someone more knowledgable to review the shots and give comments.

    Also know your camera well

    Good luck

true... I never like to buy online, I prefer to hold and test things before I make my purchase. And if you're the in-between, don't you have to acquire that piece of equipment first?

Else why the need for you? The party can make the purchase himself/herself.

The TS is not a newbie, hahahaha. It's more of a tongue-in-cheek thread, if you ask me.

    1) Expensive cameras do not equate good photos
    2) Photoshop is overrated, it can save a picture with bad colours and not so good exposure but it cannot save bad composition

    Thanks!
Very simple. Go buy a camera with a "best pick" feature in it.
I reckon that if the camera can pick the best photo for you. It gotta be good!
